It had been notified ahead of its meeting in the Empire Hall on 3 September that at least six villagers would like to have allotments here – passing the threshold requiring the council to provide them, under the Small Holdings and Allotments Act of 1908.

Councillors agreed to review potential locations within the village to set aside space for allotments and to invite local land owners to offer plots.

In days gone by, there were several areas set aside for allotments here – including behind Hillside, in The Street, and in the field on the southern side of the road opposite Popple Hill Cottage.
