Born out of the village’s former Women’s Institute group some 50 years ago, in the late 1970s, the Thursday Club meets monthly for talks, outings and friendship.

Excursions have been made to local places of interest, and further afield to National Trust properties, the Wey and Arun Canal and for a behind-the-scenes visit to Glyndbourne.

Guest speakers from in and out of the village cover a wide range of subjects from local history and waste recycling, to bee keeping, bed-and-breakfasts and destinations around the world.

Its annual programme is completed with a Christmas celebration in December and a Strawberry Tea in mid summer.
