Graffham Garden Group

One of the village’s most active clubs, with a focus on, you guessed it!, gardening.

With around 100 members, Graffham Garden Group has staged its flower and produce shows in the Empire Hall every July since 1966 – apart from times of severe drought or lockdown.  Silverware and cash prizes are awarded to the best exhibits – but it is the taking part that is the fun bit, along with the teas and cakes on offer!

It also holds a smaller spring show, to find the best daffodils and hellebores grown in the village, on the sidelines of its AGM, when a guest speaker visits to share his or her expertise and experience.

The group’s spring plant sale is Graffham’s equivalent to the opening day of the Harrods’ sale, with queues forming outside the hall before the doors open, to grab bargain seedlings and cuttings.

Affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society, it also arranges a programme of visits to gardens near and far.

It members look after the garden around the village War Memorial and Pavilion along with flower planters around the neighbourhood.
