Horse riding, racing, polo

Some people joke that there are as many horses in Graffham as people. Certainly there are plenty of opportunities for riding – whether it’s just for a hack across the Downs, for a chukka of polo or to see the champions tear up the turf at the races.

There are several livery yards in the village and nearby where you can ask about opportunities to ride.

Some of the UK’s top polo lawns are just at a short chukka away at Ambersham and Cowdray Park.

Glorious Goodwood is a gallop across the Downs, with Fontwell also a canter away.

In days gone by, Graffham was home to several studs that bred and trained some of Britain’s top racehorses.
